Central Archive for the Department of Health New Offices

When the Department of Health decided to relocate its central archive to Roscommon as part of the government decentralization programme, Storage Systems Ltd was appointed to design, supply and install a mobile shelving system to house all the department’s archives.

This installation comprises of HI-280 shelving mounted on Compactus mobile bases. Each mobile base is fitted with an M2 reduction gear drive system, which allows staff to easily move loads up to 30,000kg’s at the turn of a handle. The Compactus Mobile Shelving provides over 5km of archive storage and is specially designed to make optimum use of the space available. The HI-280 shelving is 2.2m high with 10 shelf levels and has a total storage capacity of over 20,000 archive boxes.

To provide an attractive appearance to the installation, blue decorative panels were fitted to both ends of each row. Label holders are installed on each row so the staff can easily locate specific archive boxes.
