Booked up with Argosy Libraries

Argosy Libraries Ltd is Ireland's largest independent book wholesaler, carrying a wide range of Irish interest books and maps as well as a full range of UK published trade titles. When they decided to expand to a new 2,000 square metre distribution warehouse in Finglas, North Dublin, Storage Systems Ltd was awarded a major contract to provide a complete storage solution.

Niall Rock of Storage Systems Ltd explains “We provided a complete storage solution which included a 2,070m² Three Tier Redifloor Structural Steel Mezzanine with floor levels at 3m, 6m and 9m high. On each floor level we installed HI-280 Shelving to store all types of books, leaflets, magazines and manuals. A series of gravity roller and inclined belt conveyors were installed to convey goods from the goods receiving area to the different mezzanine floor levels and also from the mezzanine floor levels to the despatch area.

The use of conveyors cuts out a lot of manual handling and has significantly speeded up the picking process. This in turn has had positive implications for health and safety issues associated with manual lifting. Redirack Pallet Racking 9m high was installed for palletized goods that are serviced by forklift trucks. Overall Argosy were very satisfied with the benefits the new system brought to their new warehouse.

Niall concludes “The enormous variety of product size and weight presented a challenge for our design team. With our comprehensive CAD design programs we came up with a innovative solution which provided Argosy with the optimum layout and therefore aiding in their decision to appoint us as their preferred supplier.”
