UCD lights up with Compactus Power ³

Storage Systems Ltd. has recently completed a large Compactus Power³ Mobile Shelving installation at the new Health Science Library Building at University College Dublin.

In total 5 Blocks of Compactus Power ³ Mobile Shelving Dublin were installed providing a total of 150 bays of shelving. Safety was of major design consideration for UCD as the mobile shelving is be operated by students in the library. To address these requirements all mobile bases are equipped with both the MCMS safety system and safety plinths.

A special feature of this installation is the energy saving integrated aisle lighting system. Each Mobile Rack has an overhead aisle light which is integrated with Compactus Power³ electronics so that when a specific aisle is open an overhead aisle light is switched on in that aisle only.

Another feature of the installation is the setting of the guide rails into the raised access floor, thereby providing a level floor area and eliminating the need for any unsightly ramps.

To blend in with the library décor White Oak Decorative panels were fitted to the front side and rear side of this installation. Label holders were fitted on each row so the students can easily locate specific library books.
