Compactus Mobile Shelving for University College Cork

Storage Systems Ltd. has recently completed a very large installation of Compactus Mobile Shelving at University College Cork. The system was installed in a series of humidity controlled vaults in the basement of the new Postgraduate Research Library.

The contract which was worth in excess of €300,000.00 comprises of more than 1,300 bays of Compactus Mobile Shelving 2600mm high x 1000mm wide x 300mm deep each fitted with 6 shelf levels for book storage.

All shelf levels are fitted with shelf backstops and all side frames include steel infill panels which totally enclosed uprights to prevent any gaps between shelf and frame. To enhance operator safety all mobile bases are fitted with push button aisle locks to prevent aisle closing when an operator is present within the aisle.

Furthermore all guide rails were installed in the concrete floor during the building construction stage to eliminate the need for ramps and timber false floors which would be required with surface mounted guide rails.
