Commissioners of Irish Lights chooses Compactus Power3 Mobile Shelving

The Commissioners of Irish Lights are the General Lighthouse Authority for all of Ireland, its adjacent seas and islands. In July 2008, The Commissioners of Irish Lights moved to a new office headquarters located at Dun Laoghaire Harbour, Co. Dublin.

When equipping their new headquarters Irish Lights appointed Storage Systems Ltd to provide an efficient safe storage solution to house all the organisations archive material

The solution was 100 bays of Compactus Power³ Mobile Shelving 2.7m high in a combination of 4 different shelf depths to suit various sized archive materials including folders, maps & archive boxes etc.

All mobile bases are fitted with a photocell light beams located on the bottom of the mobile base. If the light beam from a photocell is broken by the operator or an obstruction in an aisle, the movement of all mobile bases is automatically stopped.

For security reasons the system is programmed so that access to individual aisles is restricted to operators with personal swipe tags. To enter an aisle the operator must swipe their tag at the control panel on the front of the mobile base. Individual swipe tags can be programmed via a pc to allow access to single aisle’s or a combination of aisles.
