We’re Finalists! Storage Systems Limited Shortlisted for Product Innovation at the ICE Awards 2025

We are incredibly proud to announce that Storage Systems Limited, in partnership with Gionvarri, has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the Construction Product Innovation category at the 2025 Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards, in proud association with Irish building magazine.

Our nominated product, the Tornado Vertical Lift Machine, is a state-of-the-art automated storage solution designed to optimise space, improve picking efficiency, and enhance overall warehouse and inventory management. It’s a huge honour to see this innovation recognised among the best in Irish construction.

Why Tornado is an Asset to the Construction Industry

In today’s fast-paced and increasingly space-conscious construction environment, efficient material handling and storage are critical. The Tornado Vertical Lift Machine offers a smart, scalable solution for construction companies, contractors, and building material suppliers who need:

  • Maximised Floor Space – Tornado uses vertical space to dramatically increase storage capacity without expanding your footprint — an ideal solution for crowded warehouses, modular build hubs, or logistics centres.
  • Faster Picking and Access – With automated retrieval and ergonomic access, materials can be picked and delivered to the user in seconds, improving productivity and reducing downtime on-site or in pre-fab operations.
  • Improved Accuracy and Inventory Control – Tornado integrates seamlessly with ERP and inventory systems, reducing errors and giving construction teams better control over materials management.
  • Enhanced Safety – Heavy and bulky items are stored securely and retrieved without the need for ladders or forklifts, reducing manual handling risks and workplace injuries.
  • Sustainability Benefits – By reducing energy consumption, floor space, and manual handling, Tornado contributes to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable construction environment.
  • As the construction industry continues to adopt smarter, more digital processes, Tornado bridges the gap between logistics and on-site efficiency — making it a future-ready solution for forward-thinking construction professionals.

See You at the Gala!

Every warehouse should have a clear and regularly updated risk assessment and a written safety statement tailored to its operations. This includes identifying hazards, implementing training for staff, displaying appropriate signage, and ensuring emergency protocols are in place.

It’s also vital that inspections and maintenance be carried out by competent professionals — especially when it comes to the structural elements of your racking system. While internal visual checks are useful, they don’t go far enough to uncover early warning signs of structural fatigue or unsafe load distribution.
